September 14, 2002, NSA C Northeastern World Series.  Baltimore, MD.  Pending rain forced the 2002 NE World Series to a one pitch format mid-way through Saturday play.  We got off to a good start again this weekend with a 4-0 record.  Wins over The Scene (NY), TNT (VA), Hazelwood (VA), and TRS (PN), left us with a 4-0 record and a show down with B&B (NC).  We had defeated B&B earlier in the year at a USSSA NIT and we carried a 2 run lead into the 7th, but our defense let us down a little and we dropped a 4 run game.  The runs were pilling high on the other fields as TNT fought their way through the losers bracket by scoring 34 runs a game to make it back to a fifth place tie.  Two Northern teams sponsored by MIKEN were scoring 40+ runs a game and it was a talented Gamecocks squad from NJ that ended our tournament.   We finished 4-2 and in a tie for fifth.  The Gamecocks then defeated B&R by 20 but fell to a tough Minutemen Press squad from NY by a score of 59-55 in 2 1/2 hours.  B&B went on to defeat MP to take the title.  Our hats go off to the winners and the other VA teams.  Also, thanks and praise goes out to our pitcher, Mark Urbain for his willingness to stand 50 feet away from 225 pounds athletes with Miken bats in their hands hitting absolute missiles through the middle....  Link to Tournament Page

September 1, 2002, USSSA C National.  Lexington, SC.  In a similar fashion, JAXX/Mizuno began the weekend with some solid performances on way to a 3-0 record and a trip to the winners bracket finals.  Quality wins over Carol Concrete, Grand Slam USA, and the Firm, took us into Sunday morning with a match up with Ci Ci's Mizuno.  We dropped that game 17-13 and were left to face off with the Firm in the final of the losers bracket.  After having defeated the Firm on Saturday by 12, we didn't hit very well and dropped a 10-9 decision.  We finished the weekend 3-2 and a 3rd place finish for the third tournament in a row.  Link to Tournament Page

This was our third, third place finish in our last three tournaments.  From this point forward, we will only play in one day tournaments that finish on Saturday nights...
